How to Mix and Use Sifbronze Aluminium Brazing Flux (FO140050)

Sifbronze FO140050 aluminium brazing flux is a specialist flux designed for brazing aluminium and aluminium alloys using oxy-acetylene or oxy-propane  torches. It prevents oxidation during heating, allowing the aluminium brazing rod to flow cleanly and bond properly with the base metal.

To get the best results, the flux must be mixed into a paste and applied correctly.

• Choose a clean, heat-resistant container
  Use a ceramic or glass pot – avoid metal containers that can react with flux components.

• Add a small amount of Sifbronze FO140050 flux powder
  Only pour out what you need for your job – the paste should be mixed fresh each time.

• Gradually add clean water
  Slowly stir in a few drops of distilled or clean tap water while mixing with a brush or spatula.

• Mix to a smooth, thick paste
  The paste should resemble toothpaste – thick enough to cling to the work piece without running.

How to use Sifbronze aluminium brazing fluz 

• Clean the joint thoroughly
  Aluminium must be clean and oxide-free. Use a stainless steel wire brush and degrease the surface before applying flux.

• Apply the mixed flux paste
  Brush the paste directly onto the joint where the aluminium brazing rod will flow.

• Heat the area with an oxy-acetylene or oxy-propane flame
  Apply heat evenly. The flux will melt and begin to clean the surface as the temperature rises.

• Feed the aluminium brazing rod
  Once the flux is active, introduce the brazing rod. The molten rod will flow and bond with the base metal.

• Cool and clean
  Let the part cool naturally, then clean off the residual flux with warm water and a wire brush.
